Hassall lost 8-7 to Aaron Sluchinski (Airdrie, AB) where Hassall responded with a 8-2 win over Andrey Drozdov (Moscow, RUS). Hassall went on to lose 5-3 against Randy Bryden (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
