Serge Reid (Saguenay, PQ) qualified for the 2009 Challenge Casino Lac Leamy playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 7-4 against Jean-Michel Menard (Gatineau, PQ). of the 2009 Challenge Casino Lac Leamy in Buckingham, Quebec, Canada;
 
Reid finished 4-2 in the 28-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Reid defeated Eric Harnden (Sault Ste Marie, ON) 10-0, then went on to lose 7-4 against Martin Ferland (Quebec, PQ). Reid lost 7-6 to Quebec's Michel Briand where Reid responded with a 5-2 win over Steve Lodge (Brockville, ON). Reid won 6-5 against Alex Smith (St. John's, NL), then won 7-3 against Tim Phillips (Sudbury, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Reid earned 9.570 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Challenge Casino Lac Leamy. For week of the event schedule, Reid did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Reid ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
