Higgs finished 4-2 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Higgs defeated Roy Arndt (Toronto, ON) 6-4, then won 8-5 against Epping and 5-4 against Mark Kean (Ajax, ON). Higgs went on to lose 6-4 against Wayne Middaugh (Toronto, ON). Higgs lost 8-1 to Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON) where Higgs responded with a 8-6 win over Wayne Tuck Jr. (Strathroy, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
