Owen finished 5-1 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Owen defeated Cathy Overton-Clapham (Winnipeg, MB) 5-3, then went on to lose 9-5 against Eve Muirhead (Stirling, SCO). Owen responded with a 5-3 win over British Columbia's Adina Tasaka. Owen won 6-4 against Crystal Webster (Calgary, AB), then won 5-1 against Allison Pottinger (Bemidji, MN) and 5-3 against Stefanie Lawton (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
