Craig Brown (Madison, WI) qualified for the 2009 St. Paul Cash Spiel playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 7-4 against Bryan Burgess (Thunder Bay, ON). of the 2009 St. Paul Cash Spiel in St. Paul;
 
Brown finished 3-2 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Brown lost 7-4 to North Dakota's Bill Morehouse, then responded with a 7-1 win over Aaron Asselstine (Thunder Bay, ON). Brown went on to lose 6-3 against Brian Adams Jr. (Thunder Bay, ON). Brown responded with a 6-5 win over Minnesota's Peter Stolt. Brown won 6-5 against North Dakota's Erik Jensen in their final qualifying round match.
 
Brown earned 2.100 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the St. Paul Cash Spiel. For week of the event schedule, Brown did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Brown ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
