Bryan Burgess (Thunder Bay, ON) lost 7-1 to Mike Pozihun (Thunder Bay, ON) in the Final of the St. Paul Cash Spiel, held October 16 - 19, 2009 at the St. Paul Curling Club in St. Paul, . To advance to the championship game, Burgess won 7-6 over Allen Macsemchuk (Fort Frances, ON) in the semifinals of the 2009 St. Paul Cash Spiel in St. Paul; and won 7-4 over Craig Brown (Madison, WI) in the quarterfinals. of the 2009 St. Paul Cash Spiel in St. Paul;
 
Burgess finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Burgess defeated Wisconsin's Kroy Nernberger 6-3, then went on to lose 4-2 against Brad Haight (Winnipeg, MB). Burgess responded with a 8-3 win over Mike Farbelow (St. Paul, MN). Burgess won 7-1 against Minnesota's Aaron Wald, then won 6-4 against Ken Neidhart (St. Paul, MN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the St. Paul Cash Spiel, Burgess take home 3.500 world rankings points along with the $2,595CDN prize. For week of the event schedule, Burgess did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Burgess ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
