To advance to the championship game, Bucholz won 7-2 over Sven Michel (Adelboden, SUI) in the semifinals of the 2011 The Shoot-Out in Edmonton, Alberta; and won 9-1 over David Murdoch (Lockerbie, SCO) in the quarterfinals. of the 2011 The Shoot-Out in Edmonton, Alberta;
 
Bucholz finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Bucholz defeated Ferbey 7-5, then won 6-4 against Dean Ross (Calgary, AB) and 6-5 against Brock Virtue (Calgary, AB). Bucholz went on to lose 7-4 against Tom Appelman (Edmonton, AB). Bucholz responded with a 4-3 win over Steve Petryk (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the The Shoot-Out, Bucholz take home 11.200 world rankings points along with the $3,000CDN prize. For week 5 of the event schedule, Bucholz did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Bucholz ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
