Tom Appelman (Edmonton, AB) qualified for the 2011 MNP Charity Classic playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 5-1 against Scott Bitz (Regina, SK). of the 2011 MNP Charity Classic in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada;
 
Appelman finished 5-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Appelman lost 9-2 to Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN), then responded with a 6-5 win over Glen Kennedy (Edmonton, AB). Appelman won 6-4 against Jamie King (Edmonton/Calgary, AB), then won 4-3 against Wade White (Edmonton, AB) and 5-2 against Morozumi. Appelman went on to lose 6-2 against Steve Petryk (Calgary, AB). Appelman responded with a 5-4 win over White in their final qualifying round match.
 
Appelman earned 4.965 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the MNP Charity Classic.
