To advance to the championship game, Gushue won 7-1 over Ian MacAulay (Ottawa, ON) in the semifinals of the 2012 Challenge Chateau Cartier de Gatineau in Buckingham, Quebec, Canada; and won 6-5 over Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) in the quarterfinals. of the 2012 Challenge Chateau Cartier de Gatineau in Buckingham, Quebec, Canada;
 
Gushue finished 4-0 in the 28-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue defeated Mark Kehoe (Halifax, NS) 8-5, then won 9-2 against Wayne Tuck Jr. (Brantford, ON) and 10-4 against Bryan Cochrane (Ottawa, ON). Gushue won 5-2 against Greg Balsdon (Toronto, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Challenge Chateau Cartier de Gatineau, Gushue take home 21.645 world rankings points along with the $7,000CDN prize, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 9th place overall with 156.781 total points. Gushue ranks 8th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 55.065 points earned so far this season.
