To advance to the championship game, Gushue won 7-1 over Ian MacAulay (Ottawa, ON) in the semifinals of the 2012 Challenge Chateau Cartier de Gatineau in Buckingham, Quebec, Canada; and won 6-5 over Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste. Gushue won 5-2 against Greg Balsdon (Toronto, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
