Al Hutchinson (Owen Sound, ON) lost 5-4 to Len Rominger (St. Catharines, ON) in the Final of the Port Elgin Superspiel, held November 9 - 11, 2012 at the Port Elgin Curling Club in Port Elgin, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Hutchinson won 7-4 over Lorne Johnson (Port Elgin, ON) in the semifinals of the 2012 Port Elgin Superspiel in Port Elgin, Ontario, Canada; and won 5-4 over Peter Mellor (Kitcher-Waterloo, ON) in the quarterfinals. of the 2012 Port Elgin Superspiel in Port Elgin, Ontario, Canada;
 
Hutchinson finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hutchinson defeated Mellor 8-2, then won 10-6 against Jordan Chandler (Sudbury, NO) and 9-2 against Bob Armstrong (Ingersoll, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Port Elgin Superspiel, Hutchinson take home 1.750 world rankings points along with the $3,000CDN prize, moving up 35 spots the World Ranking Standings into 172nd place overall with 4.725 total points. Hutchinson ranks 154th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 1.750 points earned so far this season.
