To advance to the championship game, Russell won 7-5 over Julie Reddick (Toronto, ON) in the semifinals of the 2012 KW Fall Classic in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario; and won 7-5 over Cathy Auld (Mississauga, ON) in the quarterfinals. of the 2012 KW Fall Classic in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario;
 
Russell finished 3-1 in the 25-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Russell defeated Ontario's Brit O'Neill 6-2, then went on to lose 7-4 against Julie Hastings (Thornhill, ON). Russell responded with a 6-3 win over Ginger Coyle (Dundas, ON). Russell won 8-3 against Kelly Cochrane (Toronto, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the KW Fall Classic, Russell take home 5.530 world rankings points along with the $2,300CDN prize, moving up 28 spots the World Ranking Standings into 73rd place overall with 9.823 total points. Russell ranks 22nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 5.530 points earned so far this season.
