Robert Schlender (Airdrie, AB) qualified for the 2013 Medicine Hat Charity Classic playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 5-4 against Randy Bryden (Regina, SK). of the 2013 Medicine Hat Charity Classic in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada;
 
Schlender finished 5-2 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Schlender defeated Kevin Aberle (Medicine Hat, AB) 6-4, then went on to lose 7-2 against Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN). Schlender responded with a 6-3 win over Fengchun Wang (Harbin, CHN). Schlender won 8-2 against Korea's Soo-Hyuk Kim, then won 6-5 against Matthew Blandford (Calgary, AB). Schlender went on to lose 7-6 against Max Kirkpatrick (Swift Current, SK). Schlender responded with a 7-1 win over Aberle in their final qualifying round match.
 
Schlender earned 2.700 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Medicine Hat Charity Classic, moving up 10 spots the World Ranking Standings into 84th place overall with 13.413 total points. Schlender ranks 88th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 2.700 points earned so far this season.
