Sven Michel (Adelboden, SUI) lost 8-0 to Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) in the Final of the Cactus Pheasant Classic, held October 24 - 27, 2013 in Brooks, Alberta. To advance to the championship game, Michel won 5-3 over Thomas Ulsrud (Oslo, NOR) in the semifinals   of the 2013 Cactus Pheasant Classic in Brooks, Alberta; and won 6-4 over Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB) in the quarterfinals.  
 
Michel finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Michel defeated Chang-Min Kim (Uiseong, KOR) 5-3, then won 6-5 against Ulsrud and 4-1 against Rob Fowler (Brandon, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Cactus Pheasant Classic, Michel take home 25.000 world rankings points along with the $14,000CDN prize, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 12th place overall with 149.175 total points. Michel ranks 9th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 58.665 points earned so far this season.
