To advance to the championship game, McEwen won 8-5 over Ontario's Mark Kean in the semifinals of the 2014 Stu Sells Oakville Tankard in Oakville, Ontario; and won 6-1 over John Shuster (Duluth, MN) in the quarterfinals. of the 2014 Stu Sells Oakville Tankard in Oakville, Ontario;

McEwen finished 4-0 in the 30-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Ontario's Rayad Husain 8-2, then won 8-3 against Joe Frans (St Thomas , ON) and 5-3 against Ontario's Mark Kean. McEwen won 8-1 against Aaron Squires (Kitchener-Waterloo, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Stu Sells Oakville Tankard Championship title, McEwen earned 30.000 world rankings points along with the $7,500CDN first prize cheque, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 2nd place overall with 227.410 total points. McEwen ranks 1st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 30.000 points earned so far this season.
