6-5 to Satsuki Fujisawa (Nagano, JPN), droppimg another game, 6-4 to Kelly Scott (Kelowna, BC) where Shimizu responded with a 6-2 win over Aileen Sormunen (Blaine, USA). Shimizu won 5-3 against Jill Thurston (Winnipeg, MB), then won 5-4 against Diane Gushulak (New Westminster, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Shimizu earned 1.610 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 19 spots the World Ranking Standings into 115th place overall with 3.785 total points. Shimizu ranks 57th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 1.610 points earned so far this season.
