To advance to the championship game, Michel won 6-4 over Thomas Loevold (Oslo, NOR) in the semifinals   of the 2014 Swiss Cup Basel in Basel, Switzerland; and won 6-3 over Thomas Ulsrud (Oslo, NOR) in the quarterfinals.  of the 2014 Swiss Cup Basel in Basel, Switzerland; 
 
Michel finished 5-2 in the 40-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Michel defeated Alexander Baumann (Fuessen, GER) 8-3, then won 7-3 against Mario Freiberger (Zug, SUI). Michel went on to lose 7-0 against Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE). Michel lost 6-3 to Switzerland's Manuel Ruch where Michel responded with a 7-2 win over Felix Attinger (Dubendorf, SUI). Michel won 7-2 against Andy Kapp (Fuessen, GER), then won 6-3 against Switzerland's Yves Hess in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Swiss Cup Basel, Michel take home 17.640 world rankings points along with the $8,141CDN prize, moving up 2 spots the World Ranking Standings into 12th place overall with 118.223 total points.
