MacDougall finished 4-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, MacDougall defeated Paul Landry (Lakeshore, NS) 8-2, then won 6-3 against Doug MacKenzie (Halifax, NS) and 5-3 against Matt Jackson (Halifax, NS). MacDougall won 4-2 against Jamie Murphy (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Appleton Rum Cashspiel Championship title, MacDougall earned 15.225 world rankings points along with the $1,800CDN first prize cheque, moving up 118 spots the World Ranking Standings into 102nd place overall with 18.841 total points. MacDougall ranks 37th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 15.225 points earned so far this season.
