In their opening game, Murphy defeated Paul Dexter (Halifax, NS) 8-2, then won 8-6 against Jamie Danbrook (Halifax, NS) and 10-9 against Brent MacDougall (Halifax, NS). Murphy went on to lose 10-9 against Stuart Thompson (Halifax, NS). Murphy responded with a 6-5 win over Glen MacLeod (Halifax, NS). Murphy went on to lose 6-5 against Stevens. Murphy responded with a 7-5 win over Adams in their final qualifying round match.
