Casey Scheidegger (Lethbridge, AB) won 5-4 over Silvana Tirinzoni (Zurich, SUI) in the Final of the Meridian Canadian Open, held January 3 - 8, 2017 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. To advance to the championship game, Scheidegger won 7-3 over Val Sweeting (Edmonton, AB) in the semifinals of the 2017 Meridian Canadian Open in North Battleford, Saskatchewan; and won 6-5 over Jennifer Jones (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 Meridian Canadian Open in North Battleford, Saskatchewan;
 
Scheidegger finished 3-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Scheidegger lost 5-4 to Kelsey Rocque (Edmonton, AB), then responded with a 10-4 win over Rachel Homan (Ottawa, ON). Scheidegger went on to lose 7-6 against Anna Hasselborg (Sundbyberg, SWE). Scheidegger responded with a 7-4 win over Kerri Einarson (Winnipeg, MB). Scheidegger won 9-4 against Rocque in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Meridian Canadian Open Championship title, Scheidegger earned 80.994 world rankings points along with the $30,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 7 spots the World Ranking Standings into 15th place overall with 343.901 total points.
