Mark Nichols (St. John's, NL) won 5-4 over John Epping (Toronto, ON) in the Final of the StuSells Toronto Tankard, held October 6 - 10, 2016 at the High Park Club in Toronto, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Nichols won 6-2 over Chang-Min Kim (Uiseong, KOR) in the semifinals of the 2016 StuSells Toronto Tankard in Toronto, Ontario, Canada; and won 7-2 over Mark Bice (Sarnia, ON) in the quarterfinals.
 
Nichols finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Nichols defeated Michael Brunner (Gstaad, SUI) 6-2, then won 10-6 against Dayna Deruelle (Brampton , ON) and 7-3 against Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste Marie, NONT) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the StuSells Toronto Tankard Championship title, Nichols earned 55.016 world rankings points along with the $15,000CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 1st place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 693.164 total points. Nichols ranks 2nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 165.521 points earned so far this season.
