To advance to the championship game, McCormick won 5-1 over Colin Koivula (Thunder Bay, NONT) in the semifinals of the 2016 St. Paul Cash Spiel in St. Paul; and won 7-1 over Stephen Dropkin (Minneapolis, MN) in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 St. Paul Cash Spiel in St. Paul;
 
McCormick finished 4-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McCormick defeated Arizona's Mike Siggins 7-3, then won 5-2 against Lyle Sieg (Seattle, WA) and 8-2 against Todd Birr (Blaine, MN). McCormick won 9-2 against Mike Peplinski (Milford, MI) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the St. Paul Cash Spiel Championship title, McCormick earned 23.505 world rankings points along with the $5,272CDN first prize cheque, moving up 11 spots the World Ranking Standings into 38th place overall with 111.318 total points. McCormick ranks 16th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 68.624 points earned so far this season.
