Jason Jacobson (Saskatoon, SK) won 6-2 over Ted Appelman (Edmonton, AB) in the Final of the Medicine Hat Charity Classic, held October 21 - 24, 2016 at the Medicine Hat Curling Club in Medicine Hat, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Jacobson won 8-6 over Kody Hartung (Saskatoon , SK) in the semifinals of the 2016 Medicine Hat Charity Classic in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada; and won 7-2 over Korea's SooHyuk Kim in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 Medicine Hat Charity Classic in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada;
 
Jacobson finished 4-2 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Jacobson defeated Trevor Funk (Medicine Hat, AB) 6-4, then went on to lose 7-4 against Korea's SooHyuk Kim. Jacobson lost 5-3 to Richard Muntain (Pinawa, MB) where Jacobson responded with a 7-3 win over Parker Konschuh (Edmonton, AB). Jacobson won 4-3 against Randy Bryden (Saskatoon, SK), then won 7-0 against Wade White (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Medicine Hat Charity Classic Championship title, Jacobson earned 29.916 world rankings points along with the $10,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 22 spots the World Ranking Standings into 62nd place overall with 74.802 total points. Jacobson ranks 44th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 38.120 points earned so far this season.
