Braden Calvert (Winnipeg, MB) lost 9-4 to David Bohn (Winnipeg, MB) in the Final of the MCT Championships, held December 9 - 11, 2016 in Dauphin, Manitoba. To advance to the championship game, Calvert won 7-6 over Matt Dunstone (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2016 MCT Championships in Dauphin, Manitoba; and won 6-2 over Michael Johnson (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 MCT Championships in Dauphin, Manitoba;

Calvert finished 2-1 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Calvert defeated JT Ryan (Winnipeg, MB) 5-4, then went on to lose 6-5 against Trevor Loreth (Winnipeg, MB). Calvert responded with a 6-3 win over Daley Peters (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the MCT Championships, Calvert take home 16.812 world rankings points along with the $1,500CDN prize. Calvert move up 11 spots after posting a net gain of 16.278 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 58th overall with 100.095 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Calvert ranks 31st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 88.123 points earned so far this season.
