Stuart Thompson (Dartmouth, NS) lost 9-7 to Jamie Murphy (Halifax, NS) in the Final of the Nova Scotia Deloitte Tankard, held January 24 - 29, 2017 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. To advance to the championship game, Thompson won 5-4 over Brent MacDougall (Halfiax, NS) in the semifinals of the 2017 Nova Scotia Deloitte Tankard in Halifax, Nova Scotia;

Thompson finished 5-2 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Thompson defeated MacDougall 5-1, then won 12-6 against Mike Flemming (Halifax, NS). Thompson went on to lose 5-3 against Robert Mayhew (Sackville, NS). Thompson lost 8-2 to Murphy where Thompson responded with a 9-8 win over Kendal Thompson (Halifax, NS). Thompson won 9-4 against Paul Dexter (Halifax, NS), then won 9-4 against Chad Stevens (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Nova Scotia Deloitte Tankard, Thompson take home 9.900 world rankings points, moving up 4 spots the World Ranking Standings into 43rd place overall with 161.827 total points. Thompson ranks 34th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 103.758 points earned so far this season.
