To advance to the championship game, Kim won 8-5 over Heath McCormick (Blaine, USA) in the semifinals of the 2017 Stu Sells Oakville Tankard in Oakville, Ontario, Canada; and won 8-7 over Ontario's Greg Balsdon in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 Stu Sells Oakville Tankard in Oakville, Ontario, Canada;
 
Kim finished 4-2 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kim defeated Todd Birr (Blaine, MN) 8-5, then won 6-5 against Kyle Smith (Perth, SCO). Kim went on to lose 4-3 against Rui Liu (Harbin, CHN). Kim lost 5-4 to McCormick where Kim responded with a 5-4 win over Alexander Baumann (Baden-Baden, GER). Kim won 8-3 against Adam Freilich (Jerusalem, ISR) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Stu Sells Oakville Tankard, Kim take home 36.817 world rankings points along with the $4,000CDN prize. For week 4 of the event schedule, Kim did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Kim ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
