Elena Stern (Wetzikon, SUI) lost 7-4 to Binia Feltscher (Flims, SUI) in the Final of the Glynhill Ladies International, held January 19 - 22, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland. To advance to the championship game, Stern won 6-4 over Bingyu Wang (Harbin, CHN) in the semifinals of the 2018 Glynhill Ladies International in Glasgow, Scotland; and won 8-7 over Isabella Wrana (Sundbyberg , SWE) in the quarterfinals. of the 2018 Glynhill Ladies International in Glasgow, Scotland;

Stern finished 4-0 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Stern defeated Hannah Fleming (Lockerbie, SCO) 7-6, then won 5-4 against Rebecca Morrison (Edinburgh, SCO) and 6-3 against Anna Sidorova (Moscow, RUS). Stern won 6-4 against Madeleine Dupont (Hvidovre, DEN) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Glynhill Ladies International, Stern take home 28.245 world rankings points along with the $3,468CDN prize, moving up 16 spots the World Ranking Standings into 66th place overall with 90.230 total points. Stern ranks 52nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 63.924 points earned so far this season.
