To advance to the championship game, Bottcher won 8-1 over Josh Heidt (Saskatoon, SK) in the semifinals of the 2017 Medicine Hat Charity Classic in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada; and won 6-3 over Adam Casey (Regina, SK) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 Medicine Hat Charity Classic in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada;
Bottcher finished 4-2 in the 23-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Bottcher defeated Sean Geall (Kelowna, BC) 6-1, then won 6-1 against Saskatchewan's Jason Ackerman. Bottcher went on to lose 7-4 against Heidt. Bottcher lost 7-5 to Brent Pierce (New Westminster , BC) where Bottcher responded with a 10-2 win over Adam Norget (Edmonton, AB). Bottcher won 7-1 against Jason Jacobson (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Medicine Hat Charity Classic Championship title, Bottcher earned 32.390 world rankings points along with the $10,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 3 spots the World Ranking Standings into 20th place overall with 240.865 total points. Bottcher ranks 19th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 84.916 points earned so far this season.
