Gushue finished 4-0 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue defeated Christian Bangerter (Bern, SUI) 7-3, then won 4-1 against Patric Mabergs (Skelleftea, SWE) and 9-5 against Kyle Smith (Perth, SCO). Gushue won 9-3 against Peter De Cruz (Geneva, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Swiss Cup Basel Championship title, Gushue earned 58.050 world rankings points along with the $18,048CDN first prize cheque, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 1st place overall with 656.489 total points. Gushue ranks 1st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 135.957 points earned so far this season.
