Scott McDonald (Kingston, ON) lost 8-3 to Kirk Muyres (Saskatoon, SK) in the Final of the GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 2, held November 6 - 11, 2018 in Thunder Bay, Ontario. To advance to the championship game, McDonald won 7-5 over Mark Fenner (Chaska, USA) in the semifinals of the 2018 GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 2 in Thunder Bay, Ontario; and won 10-1 over Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED) in the quarterfinals.
 
McDonald finished 4-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McDonald defeated Fenner 5-4, then won 9-3 against William Lyburn (Winnipeg, MB) and 7-6 against Jordan Chandler (Sudbury, NONT). McDonald won 6-3 against Dylan Johnston (Thunder Bay, NONT) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 2, McDonald take home 34.100 world rankings points along with the $8,000CDN prize. McDonald move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 14.752 points improving upon their best 5 results so far this season, ranking 15th overall with 252.152 total points on the World Ranking Standings. McDonald ranks 9th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 155.220 points earned so far this season.
