Maggie Wilson (Stirlign, SCO) won 9-3 over Oona Kauste (Aland, FIN) in the Final of the Latvia International Challenger, held October 25 - 28, 2018 in Tukums, Latvia. To advance to the championship game, Wilson won 6-5 over Elena Kapostina (Riga, LAT) in the semifinals of the 2018 Latvia International Challenger in Tukums, Latvia; and won 6-2 over Rebecca Morrison (Stirling, SCO) in the quarterfinals. of the 2018 Latvia International Challenger in Tukums, Latvia;
Wilson finished 2-2 in the 13-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Wilson defeated Marta Pluta (Gliwice, POL) 7-4, then went on to lose 6-3 against Virginija Paulauskaite (Vilnius, LTU). Wilson responded with a 6-3 win over Irina Belko (Minsk, BLR). Wilson went on to lose 5-2 against Kauste in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Latvia International Challenger Championship title, Wilson earned 13.438 world rankings points along with the $2,090CDN first prize cheque, moving up 70 spots the World Ranking Standings into 142nd place overall with 16.690 total points. Wilson ranks 103rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 14.365 points earned so far this season.
