Ted Appelman (Edmonton, AB) won 7-2 over Kirk Muyres (Saskatoon, SK) in the Final of the Medicine Hat Charity Classic, held October 19 - 22, 2018 at the Medicine Hat Curling Club in Medicine Hat, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Appelman won 5-4 over Kody Hartung (Langenburg, SK) in the semifinals of the 2018 Medicine Hat Charity Classic in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada; and won 6-4 over Josh Heidt (Kerrobert, SK) in the quarterfinals. of the 2018 Medicine Hat Charity Classic in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada;
 
Appelman finished 3-2 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Appelman defeated Jason Jacobson (Saskatoon, SK) 8-2, then went on to lose 8-4 against Yuta Matsumura (Sapporo, JPN). Appelman lost 6-4 to 's Daylan Vavrek where Appelman responded with a 7-6 win over Ryan Deis (Fox Valley, AB). Appelman won 9-2 against Brock Virtue (Kerrobert, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Medicine Hat Charity Classic Championship title, Appelman earned 34.906 world rankings points along with the $9,000CDN first prize cheque. Appelman move up 26 spots after posting a net gain of 30.247 points improving upon their best 4 results so far this season, ranking 49th overall with 81.741 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Appelman ranks 35th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 44.467 points earned so far this season.
