Matsumura went on to lose 6-5 against De Cruz. Matsumura lost 10-4 to Shuster where Matsumura responded with a 7-5 win over Sergei Glukhov (Sochi, RUS) in their final qualifying round match.

With their fourth place finish at the Pioneer Hi-Bred World Men's Curling Championship, Matsumura take home 45.909 world rankings points.
