In their opening game, van Dorp defeated John Shuster (Duluth, USA) 6-5, then went on to lose 9-4 against Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE). van Dorp responded with a 5-4 win over Bruce Mouat (Stirling, SCO). van Dorp went on to lose 9-7 against Yuta Matsumura (Sapporo, JPN). van Dorp lost 7-6 to Peter De Cruz (Geneve, SUI). van Dorp lost 9-4 to Magnus Ramsfjell (Oslo, NOR) where van Dorp responded with a 10-5 win over Qiang Zou (Beijing, CHN). van Dorp went on to lose 7-6 against Marc Muskatewitz (Baden Baden, GER). van Dorp lost 7-4 to Sergei Glukhov (Sochi, RUS). van Dorp lost 6-4 to Joel Retornaz (Trentino, ITA) where van Dorp responded with a 8-7 win over SooHyuk Kim (Seoul, KOR). van Dorp went on to lose 6-5 against Kevin Koe (Calgary, CAN) in their final qualifying round match.

van Dorp earned 17.216 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. van Dorp move up 3 spots after posting a net gain of 10.141 points improving upon their best 8 results so far this season, ranking 27th overall with 127.630 total points on the World Ranking Standings. van Dorp ranks 27th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 127.630 points earned so far this season.
