Thompson finished 5-2 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Thompson defeated Ian Fitzner-Leblanc (Halifax, NS) 8-2, then won 7-5 against Brent MacDougall (Halifax, NS) and 9-6 against Kevin Ouellette (Halifax, NS). Thompson went on to lose 8-5 against Stevens. Thompson responded with a 9-4 win over Doug MacKenzie (Halifax, NS). Thompson won 8-7 against Kendal Thompson (Halifax, NS). Thompson went on to lose 8-4 against Murphy in their final qualifying round match.
