Thomas finished 3-1 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Thomas defeated Peddigrew 8-4, then won 7-0 against Justin Hewitt (St. John's, NL). Thomas went on to lose 6-5 against Evan McDonah (St. John's, NL). Thomas responded with a 5-2 win over Rick Rowsell (St. John's, NL) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Cabot Spiel Championship title, Thomas earned 11.999 world rankings points along with the $2,400CDN first prize cheque, moving up 99 spots the World Ranking Standings into 161st place overall with 18.032 total points. Thomas ranks 60th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 11.999 points earned so far this season.
