Shen went on to lose 9-1 against Chang-Min Kim (Uiseong, KOR). Shen lost 16-2 to Qiang Zou (Beijing, CHN). Shen lost 8-7 to Scott Becker (Naseby, NZL) where Shen responded with a 8-1 win over Sean Hall (Melbourne, AUS). Shen went on to lose 6-5 against Yuta Matsumura (Kitami, JPN). Shen responded with a 7-5 win over Abylay Zhuzbay (Almaty, KAZ). Shen won 10-2 against Nassar Alyafei (Doha, QAT) in their final qualifying round match.

Shen earned 7.364 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 157 spots the World Ranking Standings into 253rd place overall with 9.047 total points. Shen ranks 185th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 7.364 points earned so far this season.
