Heather Russell (Queensberry, WAL) finished 1-5 in the 28-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Russell lost 9-3 to Denmark's Christine Gronbech, then responded with a 13-6 win over Anastasia Kotova (Kiev, UKR). Russell went on to lose 9-1 against Germany's Pia-Lisa Schoell. Russell lost 12-0 to Ying Yang (Beijing, CHN). Russell lost 9-4 to Farzana Hussain (Georgetown, GUY). Russell lost 11-3 to Eldena Dakaj (Prishtina, KOS) in their final qualifying round match.

Russell earned 1.105 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 668th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 1.104 after improving upon their best so far this season. Russell ranks 244th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 1.104 points earned so far this season.
