Yuta Matsumura (Kitami, JPN) won 6-4 over Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) in the Final of the Japan National Championship, held February 9 - 16, 2029 at the Karuizawa Ice Park in Karuizawa, Japan.

Matsumura finished 8-0 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Matsumura defeated Morozumi 7-6, then won 7-2 against Kantaro Kawano (Sapporo, JPN) and 8-3 against Junpei Kanda (Tokyo, JPN). Matsumura won 10-4 against Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi (Karuizawa, JPN), then won 7-2 against Yuya Takigahira (Nayoro, JPN) and 11-2 against Hiroki Yoshioka (Okayama, JPN). Matsumura won 7-3 against Ryutaro Tani (Hokkaido, JPN), then won 12-3 against Kotaro Noguchi (Miyagi, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Japan National Championship Championship title, Matsumura earned 30.578 world rankings points. Matsumura move up 2 spots after posting a net gain of 19.007 points improving upon their best 8 results so far this season, ranking 16th overall with 202.961 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
