Ryutaro Tani (Hokkaido, JPN) finished 3-5 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Tani lost 7-4 to Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi (Karuizawa, JPN), then responded with a 7-5 win over Kotaro Noguchi (Miyagi, JPN). Tani went on to lose 11-1 against Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN). Tani responded with a 9-6 win over Junpei Kanda (Tokyo, JPN). Tani went on to lose 7-6 against Kantaro Kawano (Sapporo, JPN). Tani responded with a 6-2 win over Yuya Takigahira (Nayoro, JPN). Tani went on to lose 7-3 against Yuta Matsumura (Kitami, JPN). Tani lost 10-9 to Hiroki Yoshioka (Okayama, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

Tani earned 4.587 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 30 of the event schedule, Tani did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Tani ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
