Brunner finished 3-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Brunner defeated Konrad Stych (Warsaw, POL) 8-3, then won 8-1 against Andrin Schnider (Schaffhausen, SUI) and 7-4 against Sergio Vez (San Sebastian, ESP) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the St. Galler Elite Challenge, Brunner take home 19.250 world rankings points along with the $3,660CDN prize.
