Kang went on to lose 9-3 against ByeongJin Jeong (Seoul, KOR). Kang responded with a 9-6 win over Junhwa Lee (Uiseong, KOR). Kang went on to lose 11-4 against Woojin Yang (Uijeongbu, KOR). Kang lost 14-5 to Jeongmin Kim (Gyeonggido, KOR) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Kang earned 2.250 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 1 of the event schedule, Kang did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Kang ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
