Johnson Tao (Edmonton, AB) finished 3-4 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Tao defeated Jake Horgan (Sudbury, ON) 7-5, then went on to lose 8-5 against Sam Mooibroek (Waterloo, ON). Tao responded with a 8-3 win over Kenan Wipf (Calgary, AB). Tao went on to lose 8-4 against Adam McEachren (Halifax, NS). Tao lost 7-6 to Aden Kavanaugh (Halifax, NS) where Tao responded with a 7-3 win over Jamie Stewart (Federicton, NB). Tao went on to lose 10-3 against Owen Purdy (Kingston, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

Tao earned 1.125 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 2 spots the World Ranking Standings into 82nd place overall with 42.688 total points. Tao ranks 82nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 42.688 points earned so far this season.
