In their opening game, Bottcher defeated Sebastien Robillard (Langley, BC) 9-2, then won 8-0 against Chris Jones (Penticton, BC) and 6-1 against Karsten Sturmay (Edmonton, AB). Bottcher went on to lose 10-5 against Marco Hoesli (Glarus, SUI). Bottcher responded with a 7-2 win over Jared Kolomaya (Richmond, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
