In their opening game, Pierce defeated John Epping (Toronto, ON) 5-3, then won 5-2 against Cameron de Jong (Penticton, BC) and 6-3 against Michael Brunner (Bern, SUI). Pierce won 6-2 against Jeff Berg (Vancouver, BC). Pierce went on to lose 7-6 against Matt Dunstone (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
