Cousins finished 4-1 in the 14-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Cousins defeated Gabrielle Coleman (Oakland, CA) 7-6, then went on to lose 7-0 against Benson. Cousins responded with a 9-7 win over Rachel Kawleski (Fargo, ND). Cousins won 5-4 against Delaney Strouse (Traverse City, MI), then won 4-3 against McMakin in their final qualifying round match.
