Laycock lost 6-0 to John Shuster (Duluth, MN) where Laycock responded with a 8-1 win over Darryl Sobering (Denver, CO). Laycock went on to lose 7-4 against Bob Leclair (Tempe, AZ) in their final qualifying round match.
