Bawel responded with a 8-5 win over Don Walchuk (Edmonton, AB). Bawel went on to lose 6-2 against Dave Elias (Winnipeg, MB). Bawel lost 5-1 to Brent Pierce (New Westminster, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
