In their opening game, Surka defeated Mike Farbelow (St. Paul, MN) 5-3, then went on to lose 7-4 against New York's Brandon Corbett. Surka lost 7-2 to Scott Bitz (Regina, SK). Surka lost 6-3 to Stephen Dropkin (Wayland, MA) in their final qualifying round match.
