Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) finished 2-3 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Edin defeated Scott Egger (Brooks, AB) 8-5, then went on to lose 6-3 against Robert Schlender (Edmonton, AB). Edin lost 7-4 to Jim Cotter (Vernon, BC) where Edin responded with a 6-5 win over Braeden Moskowy (Regina, SK). Edin went on to lose 7-6 against Jon Rennie (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
