Josh Hozack (Victoria, BC) finished 2-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hozack lost 11-0 to Brent Pierce (New Westminster, BC), droppimg another game, 7-5 to Bryan Kedziora (Maple Ridge, BC) where Hozack responded with a 5-3 win over Alexey Tselousov (Moscow, RUS). Hozack won 7-5 against British Columbia's Mel Steffin in their final qualifying round match.

Hozack earned 0.250 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 5 of the event schedule, Hozack did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Hozack ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
